Naegele's rule: add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your LMP
FAQs
How accurate is the due date calculator?
Naegele's rule (LMP + 280 days) has been used for over 200 years and is still standard. Only about 5% of babies are born on their exact due date — most arrive within 2 weeks before or after. An early ultrasound (before 13 weeks) is the most accurate way to confirm gestational age. The actual range of normal delivery is weeks 37–42.
What are the three trimesters?
First trimester: weeks 1–12 (conception through week 12). Second trimester: weeks 13–26. Third trimester: weeks 27–40. Full-term is 39–40 weeks; early term is 37–38 weeks; late-term is 41 weeks+. The first trimester is when most major organ development occurs and the risk of miscarriage is highest.
