Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the sale price after a discount? ›
Sale Price = Original Price × (1 − Discount% ÷ 100). Example: $100 at 20% off → $100 × (1 − 0.20) = $100 × 0.80 = $80. You save $20.
How do I find what percentage off something is? ›
Discount% = ((Original Price − Sale Price) ÷ Original Price) × 100. Example: item was $80, now $60 → ((80 − 60) ÷ 80) × 100 = 25% off.
How do I calculate a double discount? ›
Apply discounts sequentially, not additively. A 20% discount followed by a 10% discount is NOT 30% off. Example: $100 → 20% off = $80 → 10% off = $72. The total effective discount is 28%, not 30%.
