Waist-to-Hip Ratio Calculator

Calculate your waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) and find your health risk level. WHR is one of the best predictors of cardiovascular disease risk — often more telling than BMI alone.

FAQs
What is a healthy waist-to-hip ratio?
According to the World Health Organization, a healthy WHR is below 0.90 for men and below 0.85 for women. Ratios above these thresholds indicate abdominal obesity ("apple shape"), which is associated with significantly increased risk of type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. A WHR below 0.80 for women and 0.85 for men indicates low risk.
Is WHR better than BMI?
WHR and BMI measure different things. BMI estimates overall weight relative to height but can't distinguish between muscle and fat. WHR measures the distribution of fat — specifically how much is around the abdomen (visceral fat) versus the hips and thighs. Visceral (abdominal) fat is metabolically active and more closely linked to heart disease and metabolic syndrome risk than subcutaneous fat elsewhere. Using both metrics together gives a more complete health picture.
